Fire DepartmentThe Jesup Volunteer Fire & Rescue was organized in 1903. It is solely a volunteer organization built on tradition. It maintains a staff of 32 active firefighters. Besides the Chief, there are 3 Assistant Chiefs, a Drill Instructor, Secretary and Treasurer. We meet the second and fourth Thursday of each month. The second Thursday we have an Officers' Meeting at 6:30 p.m., and at 7:00 p.m. we have our Drill, followed by the Business Meeting. On the fourth Thursday, at 7:00 p.m. we have an extra Drill. We average 100 runs a year.
Several Firefighters are trained to the Firefighter I certification level. We also have Firefighters trained to Firefighter II certification, Driver/Operator, Haz Mat Operations, First responder, and EMT.
